The development of the globalizing world enables the development of digital communication technologies as well as expanding the usage areas of multimedia communication tools and environments. At this point, visual design becomes even more important. As well as the importance of written and verbal communication, the scope, effect and power of visual communication are increasing noticeably with each passing day. Therefore, there is a need for a well-equipped workforce trained in visual communication design today and in the future. This need makes visual communication design education important.

In this chapter; Training will be conducted with an application-based approach. This education; It aims to enable students to discover their talents by developing the knowledge and skills they can use in the visual design industry, in the side areas of this industry and in other sectors, where artistic works and visual design are frequently used. In this section, students from basic to advanced level; They will learn how to design multimedia and graphic designs, vector and raster graphics with specific viewers and how to edit images, using visual communication software such as frequently used photographs, video and similar editing. In addition to the design elements and principles, color theory, visual perception theories, typography, symbols, brand identity, logos and information design, links to the current and historical context of graphic arts will also be taught in the department. Students will also share their work and learn to participate in design criticism and discussions as both designer and peer. Reading and watching the relevant visual and written media elements is a mandatory component of the course. In order to consolidate all these practice-based learning, on the one hand, while using the television studios, sound studios, editing suites and video equipment of the faculty, students are provided with practical opportunities through the work and procedures in the faculty and other departments of the university. The department also helps students to interact with other disciplines, mostly radio, film, TV, advertising, public relations and journalism, to learn about the multidisciplinary nature of communication.

Students who graduate from this department will be able to become graphic designers in public and private institutions, as well as establish their own advertising and promotion agencies. In addition, in advertising agencies, printing houses, publishing houses, TV channels and multimedia companies, various magazines, animation and game studios, advertising films, video, creative text, motion and sound communication sectors, companies 'design centers, industrial production factories' advertising and promotion They can be employed as graphic designers in many sectors such as their departments, or they can also work as teachers if they receive a pedagogical formation certificate.
