Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı answered questions from Radio Uni14. Rector Alişarlı, who was the guest of the “Campus Vision” program hosted by Nur Sena Derin, our 3rd year student at the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema of the Faculty of Communication, gave sincere answers to questions about the past, present and future of our University.
When asked about how his day goes, Rector Alişarlı provided information about the rector's duties within the scope of education, R&D studies and social contribution activities, emphasizing that the rector's duty is an intense teamwork in which the rector's mission and vision and the academic and administrative colleagues determine the work tempo, and said, "I have a fast-paced day during my duty; what makes me happy in this tempo are the successes of our students, the scientific publications and R&D studies of our academics and the development of projects in line with the vision of the New Turkish Century . These take all our tiredness away."
In response to the question about what opportunities the campus offers to students, Rector Alişarlı explained the contributions of our University, located in the heart of nature, to the development of our students with its social facilities, sports facilities, activity and life centers, indoor swimming pool, fitness center, culture and congress centers.
Our social projects within the scope of the “All Age-Friendly University” have set an example for other universities.”
In the question, in which the two important mottos of our university, “All Age-Friendly University” and “Benevolent University”, were emphasized, Rector Alişarlı briefly said the following:
“Within the scope of the motto of a university that is friendly to all ages, our university has responsibilities in terms of sharing the knowledge it has gained with the society. We have certain missions in line with the experiences we have gained and the demands from the society. Within this scope, “Mothers at University School” addressed thematic issues in order to eliminate the deficiencies of mothers and mother candidates in certain areas and to increase their social and cultural knowledge. Social activities were also organized. We organized the program that we started in 2018 11 times and the interest of mothers continued to increase in each program. We organized a Children’s University. We provided training in thematic areas such as sports festival, science festival, music festival, and painting festival. The program was very popular. The Provincial Directorate of National Education and the Red Crescent supported. In our 60+ Learning Together University, we have gained much more than we thought. We organized the program to contribute to quality aging or delay aging, to prevent the loss of abilities by sitting at home and to offer solutions to health problems. We have achieved all of our goals. The 60+ Learning Together University has been a program that has been continuing for 3 years, unlike our other programs. Of course, We do not give a diploma, but there are some seniors who are considering doing a master's degree. Our program continues successfully. We are organizing a Youth University again. The project was first carried out in 2018 with the participation of Altındağ Girls Anatolian Imam Hatip High School students. This project also won a place in the competition held by the Ministry of National Education throughout Turkey. This is important for us because a successfully carried out project was recognized with an award. This year, 17 high schools participated in the Youth University, which we carried out with our Provincial Directorate of National Education. Over 1500 high school students visited our faculties for 1 month. The experiences of the students were tested during these trainings; satisfaction was quite high. Our programs, which were occasionally reflected in the national press, also set an example for other universities. I would also like to thank the people of Bolu who showed interest in the projects.
“The late İzzet Baysal is a man of foundation and soul.”
Continuing his speech with the “Benefactors University”, Rector Alişarlı briefly stated that “Benefactors University was a study that deserved its name. Within the scope of this study inspired by the late İzzet Baysal, I remember him with gratitude and appreciation. The founder of our university, the late İzzet Baysal, made great contributions to the establishment of our university and the construction of educational buildings through the İzzet Baysal Foundation. He also made major investments in the province of Bolu in both education and health; we see his name everywhere. In this context, our President also described himself as a “Foundation Person”. He is truly a foundation and a heartfelt person. We have many benefactors who follow in his footsteps. I remember them with mercy and gratitude. Our university receives the support of benefactors in a way that many universities cannot, and makes serious contributions to both education and research and development.”
“We have a considerable place in the rankings of national and international evaluation organizations.”
Rector Alişarlı, in response to a question, touched upon the importance of the successes achieved by our University, which was founded in 1992, in line with its mission and vision; he emphasized that despite being a young university, it has a considerable place in the rankings of national and international evaluation institutions and said, “Our international recognition is increasing; this provides great benefits for international guest students to choose our university.”
He gave information about our University's physical infrastructure, equipment, opportunities offered to researchers and students, national and international projects and similar topics; he touched on the importance and value of the location of our University in terms of the experience he gained in scientific rankings and publication rankings.
“It is very valuable to us that our students are well-equipped and prepared for life and career.”
In response to the question “What would you like to say to our students?”, Rector Alişarlı briefly said, “Our primary duty and priority is to educate students. Our students are the future of our country and state. It is very valuable for us to prepare them for both life and profession in a well-equipped manner.” He emphasized the importance of the University and student quality. He provided information about our Career Center and made suggestions regarding the importance and continuation of friendships established during university years.
