Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University has shared its “Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Policy” with the public in order to provide a safer, healthier and more sustainable campus environment for its students and employees. This comprehensive policy, which will be valid in all units of the university, is based on the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases, minimizing risks and being prepared for emergencies.
A Proactive, Sustainable and Inclusive Approach
The university's OHS policy reflects a proactive approach that continues its education, training and research activities in line with national and international regulations and aims to ensure that all stakeholders adopt a “safe campus culture”. With this policy, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University is committed not only to fulfilling legal obligations but also to creating a safety culture based on continuous improvement.
Outline of the Policy
Some of the prominent topics within the scope of the Occupational Health and Safety Policy are listed as follows:
Taking Legal Measures: All necessary measures will be implemented in accordance with the legislation to ensure the safety of employees, students and visitors in university service buildings.
Training and Awareness Studies: University personnel will be provided with regular face-to-face or digital Basic Occupational Health and Safety training.
All Stakeholders in Scope: All groups such as academic-administrative personnel, students, interns, visitors and subcontractors will be considered as part of this policy.
Coordination and Supervision: A management system will be implemented that will ensure that all academic and administrative units act together in OHS activities.
Risk Assessment Processes: Regular and proactive risk analyses will be conducted in order to identify potential hazards in advance.
Emergency Preparations: Comprehensive plans will be prepared for possible emergencies and awareness of stakeholders will be increased.
Work Accidents and “Near-Miss” Incidents: Root causes of accidents or incidents that pose an accident risk will be analyzed and their recurrence will be prevented.
Periodic Health and Equipment Checks: Health examinations of personnel and maintenance of work equipment will be carried out at regular intervals.
Inter-Institutional Cooperation: Cooperation will be established with institutions in the public and private sectors on OHS.
