The opening speech of the BATIKAF Preparation Workshop, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, was made by the Fair Director and our University's Career Center Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Tarhan. Tarhan noted that BATIKAF, which we hosted for the first time in 2022 with the contribution of 16 stakeholder universities, reached more than 40 thousand participants and that more than 350 companies were interacted with within the scope of the fair.
"We registered 32 thousand 820 of our students to the system."
Making statements about the BATIKAF results, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarhan briefly said, "We focused on sports, cultural, academic events, career events related to companies at the fair and got very good results. We have nearly 35 thousand students in total; 32,820 of them are registered in our system. Our graduates are also included in this. Our total employers are 1,702; this was one of the most important outcomes of the fair. Career Centers were established in 2019, but their institutional processes gained significant momentum within a few years with the support of the Presidency Human Resources Office. In total, we published 3,483 job postings of companies registered in the system and transferred them to our own students through the system. We have 117 active events on the system. As Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, we carry out the events by defining them through the Career Center in all deaneries and units.”
Rector Alişarlı: “We will determine a roadmap in the BATIKAF Preparatory Workshop and work with unity.”
Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı emphasized in his speech that BATIKAF’24 is one of the biggest events we have organized in our region, and in summary, he said, “We have organized a career fair before. This will be the second career fair for our region. We held the first fair in 2022 with 16 stakeholder universities. Then, İKAF and Marmara Career Fairs were held; the second of these fairs will be held. We are aware of our responsibility as a university. In the preparation workshop of this fair, we will primarily do the following: We will discuss many things and prepare a draft for the success of our career fair, which we will organize on December 16 and 17; we will determine a roadmap. Because the success of this career fair, its benefit for our youth, depends on all of us acting together and with unity of heart.”
Rector Alişarlı continued his words as follows:
“There is a feature that makes this fair valuable: This organization has a multiplier effect and pluralism. When a university of ours organizes a career fair, for example, the number of participating companies is 100, but in a regional career fair, this number exceeds 1000. Likewise, the number of events. It reaches 10 times. In this respect, regional career fairs are very valuable. Regional career fairs establish serious collaborations between universities and students. The regional career fair is not a fair on its own, but represents a very large whole. Within this whole, the business world and universities are interested.
