Elimination of Racial Discrimination Program was held

The March 21st Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination Program, organized jointly by our university's Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) and the BAİBÜ African Students Union Community, was held in the Blue Hall of the Cultural Center.

Our University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Samettin Gündüz, Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı, International Student Coordinator Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kürtül, academicians and students attended the program.

The opening speech of the program was made by Bolu African Students Union President Djamal Hegra. He greeted the participants and thanked those who contributed to the program.

Following Hegra, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı greeted the participants. Expressing his happiness to be at the event, Tandırlı shared his experiences while studying in France and thanked those who contributed to the event.

Following Tandırlı, our University Vice President Prof. Dr. Samettin Gündüz came to the podium and greeted the participants. Gündüz spoke as follows: “Human beings come into the world free. Later, in the societies they live in, either their freedoms are secured or they continue to live in an insecure situation, subject to racial discrimination.” Gündüz spoke about the history and development of humanity. Gündüz stated that there are articles against racial discrimination in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and that racial discrimination still continues today, emphasizing that racial discrimination is a disease.

After Gündüz concluded his speech, the program organized by (TÖMER) and BAIBU African Students Union Society began. The program included panels titled The Role of African Youth and the Future of Africa, and the African Diaspora and Global Cooperation, with African international students taking part as panelists and moderators. BAIBU African Students Union Society members also read poems during the program.

At the end of the program, certificates of appreciation were given to those who contributed to the program.
