Within the scope of the 2nd International Artificial Intelligence and Hypermedia Symposium hosted by the Faculty of Communication of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University (BAİBÜ), the session titled “Artificial Intelligence and Current Issues in the Axis of Society” was held with remarkable presentations.

The session held in Hall Z-132 was moderated by Gül Gizem Aytekin.

The first presentation of the event was made by N. Barış Yay with the title of “Artificial Intelligence and Racism: A Discussion Based on Example Cases”. N. Barış Yay evaluated the discriminatory algorithms that emerge in artificial intelligence systems and the social effects of these systems through example cases.

In the second presentation, Gül Gizem Aytekin shared her research titled “Social Adaptation Process of International Students Living in Turkey: The Example of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Communication” together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rengim Sine Nazlı. The presentation addressed the social adaptation opportunities offered by the university to international students and the communication dimension of this process, supported by numerical data.

The last speaker of the session, Burçin Uysal, made an effective presentation by analyzing the use of media resources in political communication with her presentation titled “The Source Role of the Media in Political Communication: AK Party and CHP Advertisements in the 2024 Local Elections”.

The session, where the intersection points of current social issues and artificial intelligence technologies were discussed, was completed efficiently with the contributions of the participants.
