The Youth University program, held for the second time on December 8, 2025, began with opening and orientation sessions in the morning. Organized in collaboration with Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University and the Bolu Provincial Directorate of National Education, and coordinated by KARMER from December 8–10, the program offers high school students a first-hand glimpse into university life.
During the first day of activities, students closely examined the educational approach of the academic units and learned detailed information about the opportunities offered by the faculties.
Intense Interest in the Faculty of Communication Introduction
The morning session of the program featured an introduction to the Faculty of Communication. Associate Dean and Journalism Department Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülşah Sarı gave a presentation that comprehensively outlined the faculty's academic and technical opportunities, applied educational approaches, ethical communication principles, and visionary stance aligned with the sector.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarı emphasized that the student-centered education model, which supports students' individual productivity, the faculty's practice-oriented courses, and sectoral projects are significant advantages for young communicators. Participants learned about our faculty's projects and had the opportunity to ask questions about the current dynamics of the communication world.
Afternoon Faculty Visits: From Classrooms to TV Studios: Hands-On Experience
In the afternoon portion of the orientation, high school students interested in the Faculty of Communication visited our faculty on-site at 1:30 PM. Students first toured the faculty classrooms, attended lectures, and had the opportunity to experience the educational atmosphere firsthand.
In the second phase of the visit, students had the opportunity to explore our faculty's Communication Workshop, which plays a critical role in professional development. They were briefed on creative content production, photography and video work, and new media applications, and were very enthusiastic about the workshop's extensive technical capabilities.
The subsequent visit to the TV Studio was one of the highlights of the day. Professional equipment such as broadcasting technologies, studio workflow, camera and lighting systems were introduced, allowing students to observe the industry firsthand. Our faculty's strong technical infrastructure and hands-on training capabilities earned high marks from the students.
The Faculty of Communication: A Strong Academic Center Shaping the Future of Young People
Presentations and practical visits on the first day of the Youth University once again demonstrated the strong academic and technical capabilities offered by the Faculty of Communication. With its student-centered approach, course content aligned with current industry needs, workshops supporting creative production, and professional broadcast studio, the faculty continues to serve as a strong guide for young people pursuing careers in the field of communication.
Over the three days, the Youth University will continue to enhance students' interaction with faculty, contributing to their professional development.
