The second day of the Youth University continued with a packed program that broadened the professional horizons of aspiring young communicators, deepened their curiosity about the academic world, and provided them with a firsthand understanding of the high-quality educational culture of our Faculty of Communication. This special day, which showcased our faculty's strengths in both theoretical and practical education, served as a virtual "preliminary university experience" for high school seniors.
The day began with an introduction to university culture and professional communication: An Introductory Lecture with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tülin Sepetci
The morning session began with an impressive Introductory Lecture given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tülin Sepetci, a faculty member in the Visual Communication Design Department. The lecture, which drew considerable interest from high school students considering our faculty, covered the fundamental components of university culture, the benefits offered by academic life, and the social impact of the communication discipline in detail.
Sepeci, by providing examples of our faculty's creative thinking-encouraging approach, interdisciplinary vision, and quality-focused academic structure, created a clear faculty profile in students' minds. Students had the opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of the broad range of work offered by our departments and the powerful career prospects they open for communication professionals.
The Heart of the Practice: An Inspiring Experience at Radio Uni 14
In the second leg of the day, our students were hosted at Radio Uni 14, our university's practice radio station. Known for its studio structure equipped with a modern radio approach and robust broadcast infrastructure, Radio Uni 14 served as a veritable stage for young communication professionals.
The visit began with a warm welcome from Ramazan Sarı, General Coordinator of Radio Uni 14. Sarı explained in detail the radio station's professional broadcasting processes, team structure, program production stages, and applied learning models in which our students actively participate.
Students practiced voice-overs in the studio, gaining firsthand experience in areas such as microphone techniques, intonation, broadcast flow, and radio language. This experience served as a concrete demonstration of the Faculty of Communication's "strong educational model that puts theory into practice."
Thanks to Radyo Uni 14's modern equipment, professional environment, and student-centered broadcasting culture, high school students experienced firsthand the importance our faculty places on practical training.
The Power of Theory: A Communication Ethics Course with Prof. Dr. Hasan Tutar
Following their radio experience, students joined our faculty's regular course schedule and attended a Communication Ethics course taught by Prof. Dr. Hasan Tutar in Z116. Our high school students, who were guests in the course alongside students from the Public Relations and Publicity Department, had the opportunity to closely observe the theoretical thought processes and culture of academic debate within the university environment.
Prof. Dr. Tutar detailed the fundamental principles of communication ethics with recent examples from the media, digital platforms, and public communication. These examples fostered in young people both ethical awareness and a strong understanding of the social responsibility dimension of the communication profession.
This course provided our students with a firsthand understanding of our faculty's theoretical depth, academic rigor, current educational approach, and qualified academic faculty.
Our Faculty: The Other Name for Quality
All the activities held on the second day of Youth University once again demonstrated that our Faculty of Communication is "the other name for quality" in both academic and applied education.
Our students learned the definition of Communication, the University culture, and the foundations of the theoretical infrastructure in the morning, delved into the heart of the practice in the middle of the day, and experienced the theoretical depth at the end, giving them the opportunity to experience firsthand our Faculty of Communication's holistic, modern, innovative, and visionary educational model. This special day turned into an enlightening journey for our prospective communication students.
