In-service training on combating addiction was organized

In cooperation with our University's Personnel Department and the Application and Research Center for Combating Addiction, a spring term in-service training program was organized for academic and administrative staff on combating addiction.

Moderated by Faculty of Health Sciences Faculty Member Prof. Dr. In the program organized by Muhittin Tayfur, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı made a presentation on "Tobacco and Alcohol Addiction in Society through Media and Communication Tools".

The program held in the Congress Center Green Hall; Deputy Secretary General Nihani Yıldırım, Head of Personnel Department Mustafa Tanrıkulu, Director of the Anti-Addiction Application and Research Center Assoc. Dr. Makbule Tokur Kesgin and members of the board of directors, Personnel Department In-Service Training Branch Directorate staff Engineer Özkan Gerboğa, academic and administrative administrators and staff, and students attended.

The importance of the all-out fight against addiction was emphasized

Making the opening speech of the program, Associate Professor, Director of the Addiction Fighting Application and Research Center. Dr. Makbule Tokur Kesgin touched upon the importance of the fight against addiction and said, “The fight against addiction is not a fight that an institution can achieve alone. We need to fight all together on this issue. The main purpose of organizing this program is to raise this awareness and to fight stronger together with you. I wholeheartedly believe that at the end of the program, you will become a member of our center.” he said.

After the opening speech, Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı gave information about the harms of tobacco and alcohol addiction and the reasons that lead to addiction, and touched upon the importance of "ending addiction in the head", as the public puts it.

As countries get poorer, dependency increases

Explaining tobacco and alcohol advertising and product placement practices in media and communication tools with examples, Prof. Dr. Tandırlı talked about visual, audio and verbal product placement practices and their negative effects, especially on young people. He pointed out that as the welfare and development level of countries decreases, cigarette and alcohol consumption increases.

The program ended after the gift presentation.
Within the scope of the program, stands of the Provincial Police Department and student groups were opened in the Congress Center Foyer area.
