The 32nd International Communication Faculties Deans' Council Meeting held at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University (BAİBÜ) was held in the Green Hall between October 17-19.

The opening of the meeting was held with an exhibition of award-winning works from the "Aklıma Bir Fikir Comes to My Mind" competition organized by the Radio and Television Broadcasters' Association (RATEM) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The opening ceremony at the Congress Center Foyer Area was attended by BAİBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Samettin Gündüz, RTÜK Vice President Deniz Güler, Communication Faculty Deans' Council President Prof. Dr. Ümit Arklan, Communication Faculty Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı, RATEM President Mehmet Aydın Şerbetçioğlu and many communication faculties deans.

A promotional film of the BAİBÜ Faculty of Communication was shown after the opening ceremony. Speaking at the program, Dean Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı drew attention to the importance the university attaches to the faculty of communication. Then, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı made a speech and expressed his happiness in hosting the 32nd International Communication Faculties Deans Council Meeting. Alişarlı provided information about the beauties of Bolu and the activities of our university, stating that such organizations require teamwork and thanked those who contributed to the event. Afterwards, Permanent Member of the Faculty of Communication Deans Council Executive Board Prof. Dr. Asaf Varol gave a speech titled "Contributions of the ILDEK Council to Communication Faculties" on live broadcast.

Following the meeting, Faculty of Communication Deans Council President Prof. Dr. Ümit Arklan and RATEM President Mehmet Aydın Şerbetçioğlu made their speeches. RTÜK Supreme Board Vice President Deniz Gürel made evaluations on the effects of media on society, the effect of social media on young people and methods of protection from harmful content. The first session of the meeting ended with these speeches.

Session 2

The second session of the meeting began with the moderation of RATEM Informatics General Manager Yusuf Gürsoy. Yusuf Gürsoy spoke about the importance of the ‘Aklıma Bir Fikir Comes to My Mind’ communication ideas competition organized by the Radio and Television Broadcasters’ Association RATEM for the 14th time with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture.

Then, he gave the floor to the Honorary Chamber President of the Supreme Court of Appeals Yusuf Özkepir. Yusuf Özkepir spoke about the importance of ‘intellectual property rights and the concept of intellectual property within the scope of copyright crimes’. In the continuation of the panel, Culture and Tourism Expert Serpil Çınar spoke about ‘the basic concepts of copyright law and the activities of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in this regard’.

In the continuation of the meeting, RATEM Board Member Zafer Beyaz touched on the subject of ‘Internship’ by talking about the problems of students and publishers. BAİBÜ Dr. Lecturer Özgür Başyigit spoke about ‘Copyrights and the problems that the open source’ demand will cause in our country. The meeting proceeded in a question-and-answer format, and our esteemed deans’ questions were answered.
The second part of the panel began with the moderation of Prof. Dr. Ümit Arıkan, the Chairman of the Deans’ Council of the Faculty of Communication. Prof. Dr. Senem Hızal greeted the panel participants and presented the final report of her work, which included ‘Keywords in ÜAK’s Associate Professorship Field’. The question-and-answer section was then held.

Following the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ali Soylu presented the report on the problems caused by the Communication departments of Open and Distance Education Faculties. The presentation continued with the questions of our esteemed deans and participants. The 3rd session of the panel ended with thanks to the participants.

INTERNATIONAL 32ND ILDEK COMMUNICATION FACULTIES DEANS COUNCIL MEETING HELD AT BAIBU

The International 32nd (ILDEK) Communication Faculties Deans Council Meeting was hosted by Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University (BAIBÜ) on October 17-19

The International Communication Faculties Deans Council (ILDEK), which has adopted the current status of communication faculties, updating their curricula in line with developing technologies, and solving the employment problems of communication faculties graduates as its principle, was held at Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University this year.

The opening of the Communication Faculties Deans Council Meeting was held by BAIBU Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı expressed his happiness in hosting the 32nd International Communication Faculties Deans Council meeting and touched on the importance of communication faculties as well as the speed of developing media and the importance of artificial intelligence in his speech. Following the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Asaf Varol, a permanent member of the ILDEK Executive Board, joined the seminar hall via Zoom to make his presentation on "Artificial Intelligence and Its Future". In his speech, Prof. Dr. Asaf Varol touched on the effects of artificial intelligence on communication education, the benefits and harms of artificial intelligence. At the end of his presentation, Asaf Varol answered questions from the participants. Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak made his presentation titled ‘’Quality Assurance System in Higher Education - Institutional and Program Accreditations’’.

In the 3rd session of the program held on October 17-19, EBSCO Ankara Regional Manager Ufuk Akdemir completed his presentation on EBSCO’s studies in the field of communication sciences and developments called generative artificial intelligence. Then, İLDEK Board Members, Pamukkale University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Soylu, Hasan Kalyoncu University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Rengin Küçükerdoğan, Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Ümit Arklan were invited to the stage to make their speeches. İLDEK Board Members touched on the subjects of providing applied courses by academicians from the sector, revising the curricula of New Media and Communication departments, and the internship problem of students in the shrinking media market. The last speech of the 3rd session was given by İLAD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz and İLAD Board Member Prof. Dr. Jale Sarmaşık took their places.

In the last session of the International Communication Faculties Deans Council Meeting, the new İLDEK Council Executive Board Members were determined as Prof. Dr. Senem Gençtürk Hızal, Prof. Dr. Hülya Önal, Prof. Dr. Rengin Küçükerdoğan. The university that will host the İLDEK Council Meeting in 2025 was selected by voting as Çanakkale 18 March University. The reserve universities that will host were determined as Atatürk University, Süleyman Demirel University and Pamukkale University.
