The 20th and final session of the symposium addressed the Structuralism of Artificial Intelligence Session. A Deep Journey Through Code, Identity, Visuality and New Media Dynamics was conducted in this session
News: Asım Altuntaş
The session titled “Structurality of Artificial Intelligence on Online Platforms” organized within the scope of the 2nd International Artificial Intelligence and Hypermedia Symposium shed light on one of the most complex issues of the digital age with interdisciplinary perspectives. The session was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuncay Erdem, Asım Altuntaş, İrem Daşkılıç and İsmail Muhammet Dinçer.
The session that started at 10:00 turned into an intense information sharing and discussion platform that lasted until 13:00. Topics such as the technical infrastructure of artificial intelligence, user experience, visual production, consumer culture, digital identity, city marketing and algorithmic coding were addressed from many different perspectives.
From Code to Cinematic Image: Algorithmic Intelligence Meets Aesthetics
In his presentation titled “From Code to Image: Algorithmic Intelligence-Based Transformation of Cinematic Image,” Bilal Çakay evaluated new aesthetic forms emerging at the intersection of cinema and artificial intelligence. Emphasizing the reshaping of visual narrative in cinema with the intervention of algorithms in the creative process, Çakay argued that artificial intelligence has become an actor that not only imitates the art of cinema but also redefines aesthetic norms.
The Aesthetic and Ethical Transformation of Deepfake Technology
Yasemin Demir questioned how deepfake technology transforms digital facial representations of movie stars on visually focused platforms such as Instagram. Examining the construction of digital personality through the concept of “algorithmic faces,” Demir stated that aesthetic norms are reproduced by algorithms and that this situation blurs ethical boundaries. The presentation initiated a lively discussion among viewers about how fragile the perception of “reality” has become on digital platforms.
Personalized Experiences with Artificial Intelligence in UI/UX Design
Wafaa Naeem explained the personalization opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in user interface and user experience design. He stated that interfaces shaped in line with users’ interests and behavioral data make the experience more fluid and efficient. At this point, ethical use of user data and privacy issues came to the fore again.
Virtual Shelves and New Consumption Practices
Res. Asst. Gizem Güler discussed the consumption habits that evolved from physical shopping malls to virtual shelves in her presentation titled “The New Face of Consumption Culture.” Emphasizing that artificial intelligence affects consumption preferences by analyzing consumer behaviors and algorithmic guidance, Güler brought the issue of “invisible manipulation” in the digital economy to the agenda in a remarkable way.
City Marketing and Bibliometric Perspectives
Fatma Memici presented how city marketing is being reshaped by artificial intelligence with bibliometric and systematic analysis methods. Drawing attention to the potential of AI-supported solutions to increase the competitiveness of cities in smart city applications and city branding, the presentation strengthened the connection between urban planning and communication disciplines.
Meaningful Patterns from Qualitative Data with Artificial Intelligence
Res. Asst. Dr. Hande Müge Yıldız focused on the use of artificial intelligence in qualitative data analysis. The opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in extracting meaningful patterns from large data sets in social sciences have the power to create a paradigm shift in research processes. The presentation discussed the relationship between human intuition and machine learning.
The Discourse of Code and the Transformation in the Identity of the Programmer
Okan Şeker and Dr. Lecturer Ayşe Duygu Atasoy Aktaş made a thought-provoking presentation on the discourse of code in the age of artificial intelligence. It was emphasized that the programmer has become not only a technical expert but also a cultural and political subject. Arguing that code should be read like text, this presentation brought the relationship of technology with language and ideology to the agenda.
Horizon Tour of the Communication Discipline in the Digital Ecosystem
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bülent Öztürk evaluated the role of the communication discipline in the digital ecosystem and the responsibilities that come with this transformation. The presentation, which was addressed in the context of the effects of artificial intelligence on media, society and individuals, especially pointed out that the priorities of communication research have changed.
Zadeh’s Legacy: Theoretical Depth of Artificial Intelligence
Assistant Lecturer Ana Mammadova delved into the theoretical foundations of artificial intelligence and emphasized the importance of Lütfi Zadeh’s theory of fuzzy logic in today’s artificial intelligence applications. This presentation reminded us that artificial intelligence is not only a current technology but also the product of a deep-rooted system of thought.
CONCLUSION DECLARATION READ
At the end of the session, the conclusion declaration of the symposium was shared with the public. The declaration, written by BAIBUILEF-IG 2025 Organizing Committee Vice President Prof. Dr. Selami Özsoy, emphasized that the effects of artificial intelligence in different disciplines should be further investigated, interdisciplinary collaborations should be increased, and ethical guidelines should be developed.
A New Episteme Beyond Structuralism
This session emphasized that artificial intelligence is not just a tool; has become a fundamental actor in the reconstruction of social structures, individual identities, cultural production and scientific methods. In an age where code is language, algorithm is thought and interface is ideology, thinking about artificial intelligence stands out not only as a technical but also as a deep philosophical necessity
